Nets

The following photo is from a 1950s/1960s era postcard showing nets drying on a rack on the shore of Silver Lake.

I took the following photo this month at the large parking area near the Preservation Museum. It shows fishermen's nets spread out for routine maintenance.

The fishing tradition lives on.

I always love seeing the nets out. Not only for tradition's sake, but it means someone is working really hard to bring me food I really love!

Well, I would hope the Friends of net fishermen/water men could sponsor a rack to allow the nets to dry. Spreading them on the parking lot ,does this not pose a risk factor of potential damage? Just thinking --the tradition lives on but is this a "best practice?"
